Age Groups: All ages as of December 31 of current year. 

  • Peewee (9 years and under)         Traditional: 15 yards; Compound: 15 yards
  • Pre-Cub (10 years to 12 years)     Traditional: 30 yards; Compound: 30 yards
  • Cub (13 years to 14 years)              Traditional: 30 yards; Compound: 30 yards
  • Cadet (15 years to 17 years)           Traditional: 30 yards; Compound: 40 yards
  • Junior (18 years to 20 years)         Traditional: 30 yards; Compound: 50 yards
  • Senior (21 years to 49 years)        Traditional: 30 yards; Compound: 50 yards
  • Master (50 years to 59 years)       Traditional: 30 yards; Compound: 50 yards
  • Masters 60 (60 years and over)   Traditional: 30 yards; Compound: 40 yards

 

Regional Representation:

Open registration - no limit on the number of athletes from each region.

Participants will be allowed to compete in one class only.

Events:

1. M M60 - Male Masters 60 (60 years and over)

Optional class for any male shooter 60 years of age or older. May shoot any type of equipment or style. Must be shot from the green stake, 40 yards max.

  

2. M M60T - Male Masters 60 Traditional (60 years and over)

Optional class for any male shooter 60 years of age or older. May shoot any type of traditional, recurve, or longbow without any sights and any type of arrow. Must be shot from the white stake, 30 yards max.

 

3. F M60 - Female Masters 60 (60 years and over)

Optional class for any female shooter 60 years of age or older. May shoot any type of equipment or style. Must be shot from the green stake, 40 yards max.

 

4. F M60T - Female Masters 60 Traditional (60 years and over)

Optional class for any female shooter 60 years of age or older. May shoot any type of traditional, recurve, or longbow without any sights and any type of arrow. Must be shot from the white stake, 30 yards max.  

 

5. M M50 - Male Masters (50 - 59 years)

Optional class for any male shooter 50 to 59 years of age. May shoot any type of equipment or style. Must be shot from the orange stake, 50 yards max. 

 

6. M M50T - Male Masters Traditional (50 - 59 years)

Optional class for any male shooter 50 to 59 years of age. May shoot any type of traditional, recurve, or longbow without any sights and any type of arrow. Must be shot from the white stake, 30 yards max. 

 

7. F M50 - Female Masters (50 - 59 years)

Optional class for any female shooter 50 to 59 years of age. May shoot any type of equipment or style. Must be shot from the orange stake, 50 yards max.

 

8. F M50T - Female Masters Traditional (50 - 59 years)

Optional class for any female shooter 50 to 59 years of age. May shoot any type of traditional, recurve, or longbow without any sights and any type of arrow. Must be shot from the white stake, 30 yards max.

 

9. M BHR - Male Senior Bow Hunter Release (21 - 49 years)

A compound bow, recurve, or longbow with or without a sight. Must be shot with some sort of release aid. Cross hair style pins are allowable as fixed pins sights. Circle style pins are allowable if circles are of one size. Must be shot from the orange stake, 50 yards max.

 

10. M BHO - Male Senior Bow Hunter Open (21 - 49 years)

A compound bow, recurve, or longbow with a moveable sight, scope, or laser sight. Any type of release aid, glove, finger tab, or bare fingers may be used. Must be shot from the orange stake, 50 yards max.

 

11. F BHR - Female Senior Bow Hunter Release (21 - 49 years)

A compound bow, recurve, or longbow with or without a sight. Must be shot with some sort of release aid. Cross hair style pins are allowable as fixed pins sights. Circle style pins are allowable if circles are of one size. Must be shot from the orange stake, 50 yards max.

 

12. F BHO - Female Senior Bow Hunter Open (21 - 49 years)

13. M SENT - Male Senior Traditional (21 - 49 years)

A recurve or longbow with no sighting device. Must be shot with a tab, glove, or bare fingers. The arrows will be of the same materials and uniform in length and weight. No stabilizers or counterbalances will be allowed. Must be shot from the white stake, 30 yards max.

 

14. F SENT - Female Senior Traditional (21 - 49 years)

A recurve or longbow with no sighting device. Must be shot with a tab, glove, or bare fingers. The arrows will be of the same materials and uniform in length and weight. No stabilizers or counterbalances will be allowed. Must be shot from the white stake, 30 yards max.

 

15. M JRC - Male Junior Compound (18 - 20 years)

17. F JRC - Female Junior Compound (18 - 20 years)

A compound bow with or without a sight. Must be shot with some type of release aid. Must be shot from the orange stake, 50 yards max.

 

18. F JRT - Female Junior Traditional (18 - 20 years)

A recurve or longbow with or without a sight. Must be shot with a glove, finger tab, or bare fingers. Must be shot from the white stake, 30 yards max.

 

19. M CADC - Male Cadet Compound (15 - 17 years)

A compound bow with or without a sight. Must be shot with some type of release aid. Must be shot from the green stake, 40 yards max.

 

20. M CADT - Male Cadet Traditional (15 - 17 years)

A recurve or longbow with or without a sight. Must be show with a glove, finger tab, or bare fingers. Must be shot from the white stake, 30 yards max.

 

21. F CADC - Female Cadet Compound (15 - 17 years)

A compound bow with or without a sight. Must be shot with some type of release aid. Must be shot from the green stake, 40 yards max.

 

22. F CADT - Female Cadet Traditional (15 - 17 years)

A recurve or longbow with or without a sight. Must be show with a glove, finger tab, or bare fingers. Must be shot from the white stake, 30 yards max.

 

23. M CUBC - Male Cub Compound (13 - 14 years)

A compound with or without a sight. Must be shot will some type of release aid. Must be shot from the white stake, 30 yards max.

 

24. M CUBT - Male Cub Traditional (13 - 14 years)

A recurve or longbow with or without a sight. Must be show with a glove, finger tab, or bare fingers. Must be shot from the white stake, 30 yards max.

 

25. F CUBC - Female Cub Compound (13 - 14 years)

A compound with or without a sight. Must be shot will some type of release aid. Must be shot from the white stake, 30 yards max.

 

26. F CUBT - Female Cub Traditional (13 - 14 years)

A recurve or longbow with or without a sight. Must be show with a glove, finger tab, or bare fingers. Must be shot from the white stake, 30 yards max.

 

27. PCUBC - Pre-Cubs Compound (10 - 12 years)A compound bow with or without a sight. Must be shot from the white stake, 30 yards max.

 

28. PCUBT - Pre-Cubs Traditional (10 - 12 years)A recurve or longbow with or without a sight. Must be shot from the white stake, 30 yards max.  

 

29. PWC - PeeWee Compound (9 years and under)A compound bow with or without a sight. Maximum shot of 15 yards. 

 

30. PWT - PeeWee Traditional (9 years and under)A recurve or longbow with or without a sight. Maximum shot of 15 yards. 

   

Stake Distances

  • Orange - 50 yards
  • Green - 40 yards
  • White - 30 yards
  • PeeWee - 15 yards

 When shooting, the shooter must touch the stake with a portion of his/her body.

 

Scoring

1st arrow: 20-18-16

2nd arrow: 14-12-10

3rd arrow: 8-6-4

Double scoring is required. Score cards will be collected at the completion of each course.

All scorecards must be shuffled and groups busted. A group with 3-4 friends or family members, plus an outside member is considered busted, provided that the outside person is one of the scorekeepers for the group.

 

Rules and Regulations:

1. Archery Canada rules apply to all areas of competition, unless otherwise stated.

2. Every athlete must be able to produce appropriate identification at all times.

3. The safety of the shooters is of the utmost importance. Any shooter who ignores a shoot official’s orders will be disqualified from the event.

4. All children must be under direct supervision of a parent/guardian.

5. Groups waiting to shoot a target will position themselves a minimum of 15 yards away from the longest shooting stake of that target.

6. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. Any action considered by range officials as unsportsmanlike will results in disqualification.

7. Under no circumstance will alcohol be allowed on the course.

8. No range finders will be allowed at the shoot. Anyone possessing a range finder will be disqualified and asked to leave.

9. Binoculars (hand held) will be allowed.

10. The Southern Alberta Summer Games has a Zero Tolerance Harassment Policy. If a competitor, coach, parent, or spectator is abusive in any way towards officials, other competitors, or volunteers, they will immediately be ejected from competition.

 

Registration Deadline:

Registration Deadline as designated by your Regional Director

All registrations are done through your Regional Director, who will determine the Regional Deadline. The registration fee must also be submitted to your Regional Director. Signed consent forms must accompany the waivers.

No late registrations will be accepted.

Events will be cancelled if there are one or less individuals or teams registered. Should any event be cancelled due to lack of registrations, the athletes being affected by the cancellation will be given opportunity to re-register in another suitable category provided that the event is scheduled to run.
